2025

We want to thank every team member across Iovino Enterprises, LLC - including J-Track, MLJ Contracting, TCE, and Welkin Mechanical - for your active participation, thoughtful discussions, and commitment to building a stronger safety culture.

This year’s theme, “Value Every Voice”, reminded us that everyone has a role in safety. Whether you're on the front lines, supporting from the office, or leading a crew, your voice and actions matter.

Over five impactful days, we will reinforce the importance of physical protection, safe work habits, and mental wellness. Let’s carry these lessons beyond this week and continue looking out for ourselves - and each other - every day.

Stay safe. Stay connected. We’re stronger, and safer, together!

To help keep safety top of mind year-round, we’ve compiled all of this week’s Toolbox Talks into a single PDF for easy reference. Whether you want to revisit a topic or share it with your team, this resource is available to support ongoing safety conversations on the job. Click on the image below to view it!

DAY 1: Rigging - Lifting Each Other Up

We kicked off Construction Safety Week 2025 with a focus on Rigging Safety - a vital topic when it comes to safe lifting operations.

Our crews reviewed how to select the right equipment, how and when to inspect it, and why securing the work area is so important. We also emphasized the role of the Competent Person in making sure everything from straps to shackles is in good shape and used correctly.

From knowing your load limits to using taglines for control, today’s takeaway was simple: safe lifts start with smart planning and clear communication.

Let’s keep lifting each other up - safely and confidently.

DAY 2: Fall Prevention - Stand Tall, Stay Safe

Falls remain one of the top causes of serious injuries and deaths in construction - and most of them are preventable. On Day 2, we focused on identifying fall hazards and reinforcing the lifesaving steps everyone should take when working at heights or even on uneven ground.

Our teams reviewed:

  • The dangers of unprotected edges, ladders, and slippery surfaces

  • The right way to use guardrails, harnesses, scaffolds, and ladders

  • Why inspecting gear daily and maintaining clean, clutter-free work areas is a must

  • The importance of 3-point contact and standing only on secure surfaces

  • What to do in case of a fall - and how to avoid ever needing that plan

The takeaway? Fall safety starts with awareness, equipment, and training. Let’s stay grounded by staying vigilant.

DAY 3:Electrical Safety - Stay Grounded

On Day 3 of Safety Week, our teams took a closer look at electrical safety - specifically, the common myths that can lead to real danger.

Just because we use electricity every day doesn’t mean it’s harmless. We talked about how even standard voltages can be deadly, how moisture increases the risk, and why arc flashes are nothing to mess with.

We also covered:

  • The difference between qualified and non-qualified electrical work

  • How to inspect cords and equipment

  • Why staying dry, grounded, and geared up with the right PPE matters

  • What to do (and not do) in case of an emergency

The key message? Respect electricity - don’t assume you’re safe just because something “looks fine.”

DAY 4: Hand Tools & PPE - Stay Sharp About Tool Safety

On Day 4 of Safety Week, we got back to basics with a focus on hand tool safety and the essential role of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Even the most routine tools - hammers, screwdrivers, utility knives - can cause serious injuries if used incorrectly or without care. That’s why proper inspection, use, and storage of tools is critical on every job.

We also emphasized PPE as the last line of defense against hazards. From hard hats to hearing protection, the right gear makes all the difference - but only if it’s worn properly and maintained.

Key takeaways:

  • Always inspect tools and PPE before use

  • Use the right tool for the job - no shortcuts

  • Store tools properly to prevent accidents

  • PPE is non-negotiable - protect yourself and your team

Let’s keep our hands, eyes, and bodies safe by staying sharp about tool safety and geared up with the right protection.

DAY 5: Mental Health, Addiction and Suicide Awareness

On the final day of Safety Week, we shifted the focus from physical hazards to the critical - but often unseen - challenges of mental health, addiction, and suicide in construction. Our work is demanding, both physically and emotionally, and the pressure, isolation, and “tough it out” mindset can take a toll on even the strongest among us.

We discussed the importance of recognizing signs of struggle - whether in ourselves or our coworkers - and emphasized that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. With higher-than-average suicide rates and growing concerns around addiction in our industry, creating a supportive, stigma-free environment is more important than ever.

Key takeaways:

  • Mental health matters - check in on yourself and your coworkers

  • Look for warning signs - like withdrawal, hopelessness, or substance misuse

  • Support is available - hotlines, counseling, and peer support

  • Start the conversation and help break the stigma

Let’s continue to look out for one another - not just during Safety Week, but every day. Together, we can build a culture where everyone feels seen, supported, and safe.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to participate in Construction Safety Week 2025. Each day brought important conversations and reminders about how we can work smarter and safer—on the job site and beyond. From fall prevention to mental health, we’ve covered the full spectrum of safety, and we hope these topics continue to spark action and awareness long after the week ends.

Safety isn’t just a week—it’s a commitment we make to ourselves and to one another every day. Let’s carry the momentum forward and continue building a culture where safety, support, and accountability are at the foundation of everything we do.

Stay safe. Stay strong. Stay connected.
